Swept Up Theatre began life after actors Rose McPhilemy and India Crawford graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2011. Their first show, Yellow Pears was devised with fellow RCS graduate, director Debbie Hannan and was awarded the Bruce Millar Trust Award for Drama. Yellow Pears ran at ZOO Venues in the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Devising open-hearted, bright-eyed new work, Swept Up unite the political with the personal to entertain and question.
Using clown, music and comedy to delve into the choices we make, we look at life from the squinting viewpoint of the outsider. Creating stories from the present moment, the past, or imaginary worlds, our work starts with the belief that everyone is a beautiful idiot.
